Importance of humanity in Islam - Serving Mankind is Service to God

“World belongs to humanity, not this leader, that leader, or that king or prince or religious leader. The world belongs to humanity.” – Dalai Lama

Humans are born with a heart of compassion that reacts to the feelings of fellow human beings. There are some beautiful qualities such as Compassion, Love, Affection, and care which make a human. These innate qualities will define a man. He/she can develop or suppress these qualities based on their daily activities. From ancient times till now great philosophers and Religious leaders have tried their best to encourage people to increase these human qualities in themselves. Humanity is one such aspect that has been stressed upon all parts of this entire world. The Proverb "Service to Mankind is service to God" is used all over the world. Treating other fellow human beings with love and care is an essential part of mature good Moral conduct. All the religions in this world share and support this concept a lot.

Here are some of the best meanings given to Humanity :

  • Humanity is what you feel when you see that another human being is suffering and decides to either do nothing or do something
  • It is the ability to reach out and hug another Man.
  • It is all about being grateful for your family, friends, and your Maximum ability to do something better in this world to society.
  •  Humanity is the ability to trust, connect and touch.

Islam has put a lot of effort into serving humans, providing Food and shelter to fellow men cannot be considered a service to Allah the almighty on the whole. It is incorrect to think that we are serving mankind as a whole by simply spending a huge part of our wealth on charity. Every Human being is a problem in the search of a solution. This was said by Ashley Montagu.

Service to the Almighty is being obedient to him in a way that he expects this mankind to be. The very first stage of that respect is we have to accept the Tawhid. Once we give our acceptance of the oneness of Allah Azzawajal, we are expected to obey Him in a way that he has prescribed and taught us. This is the stage where we fulfill all the mandatory acts like prayers, charity, Pilgrimage, etc. At this stage, man develops special bondage between himself and Allah almighty directly. The third stage is serving his Family and relations, He again gains the pleasure of Allah almighty by looking after his parents, and family, and doing good to society.

No Matter what you have done for yourself or this humanity, If you cannot look back on having given love and attention to your family members, what have you accomplished? This was said by Lee Iacocca.

Holy Prophet Muhammed ( Sal ) peace be upon him, emphasized love and kindness for all almighty's creation, he said "A Muslim who plants a tree or sows a field, from which Humans, birds and Animals can eat, is committing an act of charity." (source : Rawahu Muslim ). Treating the creatures of Allah kindly is very much liked by Allah Azzawajal.

The things that will destroy us are: politics without principle; pleasure without conscience; wealth without work; knowledge without character; business without morality; science without humanity; and worship without sacrifice. - Said by Mohandas K. Gandhi.
